Darren Mitchell did it again! To me he’s the only remaining artists whose albums are always so deep and meaningful. Although he clearly could, he doesn’t make his songs about “ass and titties”, he makes them about real life issues, and he still pulls off his songs! I’m not only supporting his album because of that but I am of Syrian descent. My parents kept talking about this issue as if it wasn’t hard enough for me knowing all about it. As if it wasn’t hard enough for me knowing that 12 million Syrians have fled their homes because of conflict; half are children. Part of those children are my favorite cousins in Syria that I just went over there to spend a summer with them as customary. I am really scared for them and I was just there wishing that there is something that I could do to help them. I was just sitting around wishing and waiting while darren went out of his way to do his best to help them. Not only that, he plans to donate a large sum of the money the album brings him if not all the money to the cause! Darren Mitchell, I might not know you personally, but, I love you.
What kind of crap is this? How can someone who has no family whatsoever in Syria or from Syria really care about a Syrian issue? This is more offending to me than “sweet” or “comforting” or “flattering” or whatever else people out there are saying. I don’t listen to American music, I am a fully Syrian guy who just happens to have been lucky enough to come to America as a teenager before all this trouble broke out in my country. Now there is a guy talking about my country just to make money and to make more fans? This is a disgrace! He is only pretending to care about the Syrian refugees. I knew American values were low but this is a new low for them. What kills me is the amount of people I see supporting him. How come no one can see what I see? Does nobody else in this country have a brain and a heart. I will never conform myself to American culture and with reason. That guy shouldn’t have the right to make money off of such a sensitive topic. I have family over there still! I don’t even know what’s become of them. Are they dead, worst or they captured? tortured? I can’t even begin to imagine what they are going through. All I can do is sit at my house researching all day looking for a way to help. I had some respect for Darren Mitchell when he would talk about American issues and I agree that he’s a real talented artist but as soon as that album dropped all my respect for him sunk like the titanic. I mean if you’re gonna drop an album based on an important cause like that, put some facts in the song. For instance, Children affected by the Syrian conflict are at risk of becoming ill, malnourished, abused, or exploited. Millions have been forced to quit school. I bet you didn’t even know that. I bet you also didn’t know that more than 700,000 Syrian refugees and other migrants risked their lives this year to travel to Europe. Do you know how much 700 million is? That is almost a million! And most of them are my family. Syria is one big family to me and what Darren Mitchell did was basically insult my family. He should not get away with that!
